Solutions for...

Lockwood offers comprehensive housing solutions for everything nature can throw at you.

We can build where others can't. To see some of the building challenges we regularly overcome, view our case studies.

Read on to see the solutions Lockwood offers for:

Heat, Humidity, Dry & Arid Climates

We have built in some of the hottest regions in the world,
including the Middle East. Our building system can
withstand extreme humidity as the buildings are designed
to breathe and the organic based treatment is resistant
to rot and decay.
We have extensive experience in desert and arid regions
with harsh external environments and extreme
temperature variations.

High winds

We can engineer our buildings to very high cyclonic and
hurricane conditions to withstand the highest
exposure regions.

Coastal conditions

High exposure from sea spray and marine environment
including on and over water construction.

Cold & Snow

We have specialized high insulation “Superwalls” to
provide the highest levels of insulation. Our structures
can be engineered to withstand very high snow loadings
and cold extremes.

Sloping sites

We can design foundations to support our buildings on
steep sloping sites.

Earthquake

Our building system is very resistant to earthquakes and
we are at the leading edge of NZ based technology and
experience.

Remote locations

The modular pre manufactured components make for
ease of delivery to the remotest of locations.

Termite and insect attack

Our organic based treatments can withstand the
extremes of termite attack and ground contact decay

Domestic Plans Desgn & Build
We arrived in Aitutaki two days after cyclone Pat had devastated the island, removing 70% of the roofs & demolishing many homes completely. It was with great relief to arrive on our land to find our Lockwood home standing tall.
- The Tossells, Aitutaki
"When I realised we were having a severe earthquake, my first thoughts were "I'll be safe in my Lockwood house.
- Carol Marsh, Darfield
Because of all the aftershocks after the first quake, my husband (a licensed builder) went next door to see if our neighbour Carol was all right. He then decided it would be safer if ourselves and several other neighbours stayed in her Lockwood home until the shocks subsided
- Christine Robertson, neighbour of Carol Marsh
We live in a Lockwood home very near the fault line that ruptured. Houses around us suffered terrible structural damage. Ours just creaked and groaned its way through. Only got two broken pot plants.
- Brian Pearson
The design of the home exceeded our expectations. It looks good, is easy to maintain and has a great relaxed feel about the whole place.
- The Coles, Waikato
We wanted a home which capitalised on and maximises the potential of the section and its magnificent location and view, and you have built it for us - a lovely blonded Lockwood residence.
- Adrian and Danielle, Taupo
I work in the project engineering game and it is unusual to strike an integrated team that meets and exceeds expectations in terms of client relationship, quality and performance. We enjoyed the experience and, of course, the final product.
- Jon, Coromandel
The entire project from inception to completion was undertaken with full understanding and empathy for our requirements, a high degree of workmanship from all trades and a high degree of professionalism throughout the construction period.
- Roy and Marian, Hahei
We were looking for a hassle-free building experience - which is exactly what we got. From the initial meetings and amendment of plans to suit us, to the sorting of any issues that arose, to the hand-over, and especially for the trouble-free follow-up with any queries.
- Christine and John, Hokitika
