Our re-do on our Lockwood we built in 1975 is going wonderfully?we have redone the roof (de-cramastic),stripped and white stained the ensuite in master bedroom, sanded and re-polyed areas in bathroom, kitchen, lounge and dining, repainted bargeboards and car ports and re-carpeted and when weather improves will repaint exterior and do landscaping.

We were just saying last night we have owned dozens of houses since this our first house ...farm house,1930s stucco, large 90s plaster finish multi beds, solid concrete houses and apartments and this old Lockwood is the most comfortable, warm and solid we have owned...not to mention upgrading is so cheap!

"When I realised we were having a severe earthquake, my first thoughts were "I'll be safe in my Lockwood house."

I got my emergency windup radio/torch and got back into bed. When my good neighbour arrived to get me, I assured him his family would be safe in my house. Five of us all sat stunned at what was happening to us.

When it was daylight, we had tea and toast using the portable gas cooker and log fire, and we soon began to realise there had been extensive damage in our area. I had few breakages, and feel humbled to be one of the lucky ones, with my 1970's Lockwood house coming through the quake undamaged."
