Sea Change Villas is a small and intimate resort that was started in 2003, the vision being to create a private and upmarket alternative to the more conventional hotel style accommodation in Rarotonga. Lockwood was chosen to provide three high-quality, up-market villas which could be built quickly and would be strong enough to withstand cyclones. The site is very near the sea and is subject to salt spray, very high temperatures and humidity. The location was remote and all building materials had to be imported to the site. Robin Grant of Sea Change Villas was impressed with the speed of construction and minimal disruption to the other guests staying at the resort. “Containers and break bulk arrived and away the team went. The use of very few nails kept the noise down on the resort during the build process so guests weren’t disturbed.” We spoke with Robin again in 2010. "The villas have been up for over 5 years and are still as good as new. The wood interior walls have stood up really well even though the tropics can be very hard on materials. I am looking at expansion in the near future and would go down the Lockwood track again because of the way they are lasting “I am looking at expansion in the near future and would go down the Lockwood track again because of the way they are lasting."
